This course will teach how to conduct an ā€œInitial Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) Evaluationā€ andĀ four month follow-up ā€œProgram Plan Updateā€, including interviews with the referring SLP andĀ parent, with a six-year-old child with the diagnosis of inter-dental and lateral production of /s/,Ā /z/, /∫/ (sh) and /t∫/ (ch) and ā€œjā€.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Therapists will be able to complete an ā€œInitial Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) EvaluationĀ for Feeding and Speech.ā€
  2. Therapists will be able to apply the skills learned in this course to conduct a ā€œProgram
    Plan Update.ā€
  3. Therapists will be able to complete a program plan including: Sensory, Oral Phase
    Feeding, OPT and Speech techniques.
  4. Therapists will be able to apply OPT activities in conjunction with traditional speechĀ therapy to improve speech clarity.
